4/2/2023 0 Comments Usb loader for wii and gc![]() ![]() I know that the regular GC-mode on Wii downclocks the CPU and GPU so games shouldn't have performance improvements, but I always found interesting that when using the spell "Cyclone" during an Unison Attack on Tales of Symphonia running on Gamecube it just tanks the framerate (and in my experience even when using it alone and not in Unison, but I can't find videos with the framerate drop) and when using it while running the game on Wii there are no framerate drops. It would be interesting to see how they stack up running on Nintendont. What are some other games that suffered from performance issues on GC? I know the GC versions of Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance performed very poorly compared to the PS2 and Xbox versions. The above video showcases the Wii version of Nintendont but someone in the comments said that the virtual Wii on Wii U can actually be patched to run at Wii U speed via hombrew, which theoretically would result in even more dramatic performance boosts.Īpparently a few games have issues due to the increased clock but some of them have patches to handle this. Therefore, games which have performance issues on real hardware can see an FPS increase of up to 50% (or 100% in some cases due to aggressive vSync)! Games like Sonic Adventure and Timesplitters 3 go from a choppy mess on GC hardware to near flawless on Nintendont. But if you have the Homebrew Channel installed and boot them up through Nintendont, it actually runs them in Wii mode at full clock (729/243 MHz CPU/GPU). ![]() When playing GC games on Wii normally, the Wii downclocks to GC speeds (486 MHz CPU/162MHz GPU) so performance is the same as on GC hardware. I apologize if this is common knowledge but this kind of blew my mind. ![]()
